How to Logon as Guest (Unregistered Guest)

As you all know, the ridiculous FICS admins have discontinued most guest access to FICS with Thief.
To now log into FICS with thief, you will need to telnet to fics2.freechess.org to have guest access.
1. In Thief: Go to 'file' menu, select 'new connection'
2. click 'configure', click the 'New' button in the configure server menu to create a new telnet address
3. put in your address as 'fics2.freechess.org' leave port as 5000, prompt fics%
4. click a bunch of 'ok's' to get out of the menus
5. select fics2.freechess.org for the 'server' in the new connection menu
6. you can log on as guest to fics now. |

Guess you are rather outdated.
1016 (Sat, Sep 11) Guest login restriction lifted
Guests may now login using any interface they wish, but admins may now change this without requiring a reboot in case spamming incidents recur.
