Tandem für alle! The second Open Bavarian Bughouse Championship will be held on Saturday 11-29-2003 in Groebenzell near Munich. Everybody is allowed to participate - not only Bavarians... Last years first competition of its kind was won by Yankadi & Zola, followed by Marcusm & Dagger and 17 other teams. Interested players should see www.bughouse.info for details and/or can message me at FICS. Come and enjoy!

Here you are! - The 2d Open Bavarian Bughouse Championship, held 11-29-2003 at Groebenzell near Munich, was won by the favorites - but only after an exhausting tie-breaker: FM C. Eichler and IM T. Reich scored 5:4 (2:2, 2:2, 1:0) vs. FM J. Zollbrecht & M. Maier. Last year's competition had seen Eichler & Reich taking the third place only - behind Zola & Yankadi and Marcusm & Dagger, all of them missing this year. Only nine teams were playing now - but that may well have ben the strongest bughouse tourney ever at least in Bavaria: Five FIDE or International Masters were among the 18 players, and the DWZ average of all participants was higher then 2100 (which equals about 2250 USCF rating). The tourney was played round robin, four games for each match, 3 0 minutes, and directed by J. Schrader. Next year's event will probably take place in july.
The crosstable shows the names of the players (some have a FICS handle, too), the team's DWZ rating average, the clubs of the players and the points scored in the 32 games.
